CWSM Is So Much More…

There is more than meets the eye to the Colorado Women in Social Media

cwsmThis blog is a little different than our normal focus on social media strategy, training & changes in the industry. Instead, let’s focus on our community & how we support each other. This group, Colorado Women in Social Media, is not simply a group of women who get together monthly to talk social media, we are a family. We support each other through the good times & the bad. We stand by each other & offer hugs of support when needed.

Trust, there are times you think you can get through it on your own,  but what you really need is a hug from someone who understands what you are going through & knows you just need a hug!

In addition, our group does what we can (each in our own way) to help the community. We have members who volunteer for a variety of non-profit organizations, provide training on social media struggles children & families are facing, training to business owners, & so much more.

The reason behind this particular blog post is extremely important; everyone needs a support system. I recently finished reading an amazing book by Glennon Doyle Melton, “Love Warrior: A Memoir”.

The book is well worth the read. I, personally, haven’t finished a book this quickly in years! The moment I finished I wanted to start reading it again. In this post, I don’t want to do a book summary, but rather address the feelings & thoughts the book provokes.

There were many Aha moments from the book, but one of the biggest Aha’s was building your community. You must surround yourself with people that build you up & support you in whatever endeavor you choose to pursue. Finding your ‘tribe’ is key to finding the support you need for growth & reaching the success or achievements you are striving for personally or professionally.

I challenge you to think about who you surround yourself with? Are they people who build  you up or tear you down? Positive thinking or mostly negative? It’s all about mindset. You have the choice every. single. day.

So, the question is what will you choose for your life?

I would love to hear if you decide to read the book & what your thoughts are. Feel free to email me at erin@sociallypowered.com
